In a statement, Jagex claims to OSRS Gold have a "growing team " and "improved equipment", Jagex says it will no longer be focused on sellers of gold and other resources through RWT but as well buyers. The intention is to stem the demand and supply.

Jagex has announced that it will begin sending "messages to players who we've identified as being involved to engage in"RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone who was involved, we'd like to make clear that this is your one all-encompassing warning" said the statement.

Other measures that the developer could take as punishments for RWT activity are set to consist of wealth removal - which is the removal of gains earned by players' accounts at an server level and potential bans.

RuneScape's PvP element, called the Duel Arena, will also see stricter rules implemented. Jagex states that the feature "has been a point of reference for this kind of shady behavior", and that 38 per cent of the bans issued for RWT actions up to now are due to this part that the player plays. It claims that this equates in "thousands of bans every month".

So, the developer seems likely to choose the nucleus approach, stating that "we're considering in the future to eliminate down the Duel Arena out of RuneScape entirely." Until then the company will make "some quick-term actions" to clean up PvP "until our development teams can bring an important update that completely takes over the Duel Arena next year."

These will include a cap for the quantity of GP, or gold points that players can bet on an event at the Duel Arena. Players will be able to wager "no higher than $50m GP per duel". Additional rules have not been elaborated on yet.
