Gratitude is one of the greatest virtues of life. There are so many benefits of practicing gratitude everyday. It not only makes you more mindful but also gives you an overall positive outlook on life. It is also said that practicing gratitude is linked to having a healthy immune system, who knew!

Sure, you may express gratitude in some situations such as winning a lottery, or a job promotion. But you will reap the real benefits of gratitude when you actually practice it everyday, make sure there is atleast one thing you are grateful for at the end of every day.

Here are a few ways to practice gratitude every day:

  • Appreciate everything : The habit of gratitude is fueled by the thought that there is nothing that is too small to be thankful for. Don't save your gratitude only for the big things in life, even if it is the sunny weather or a simple cup of coffee your mother made for you, appreciate everything, take nothing for granted.
  •  Practice mindfulness : Mindfulness is said to decrease stress and increase your focus. Mindfulness helps you truly experience the present moment and be thankful to the little things in life. Everyday, sit down for just five minutes and mentally list five things you were grateful for that day. Make this a part of your daily routine and by the end of a few weeks your brain would have rewired itself and you'll to be more grateful. 
  • Keep a gratitude journal : Write down all the positive thoughts you happen to have in here, this can help you keep track of all the positive things in life. If you're having a rough day, come back to this journal and read all the things you were appreciative of and grateful for, it will definitely come in handy.
  • Spend time with your loved ones : Spend some time with your family, it'll not only strengthen your bond but also gives you a chance to practice your gratitude with your loved ones. Go on, be nice, give compliments every time you get the chance. It'll make you happy and content to see the smiles on their faces.
  • Practice your hobbies : When you're happy, you are grateful. If there is a hobby that you really enjoy, work on it, get inspired, create something, it'll give you a great sense of satisfaction and will aslo make you productive. So, go be grateful!
