As a small business owner, you often tend to play many roles and  juggle a lot of tasks at once, so you just can't afford to be unproductivity. Still, you might not realize how dramatically small changes can improve the efficiency of your daily workflow. As a small business owner, time and money are extremely precious.Small tweaks to your plans and strategies can can save you from a huge amount of stress in the future! Not only will you have more time in your hands, you will also find yourself left with a lot more time to find new and innovative ways to advance your business.

Here are a few tips to help you increase efficiency in your workflow:

  • Working hard while working smart : People often treat working hard and working smart as two seperate entities, what they don't realise is that hard work and smart work go hand in hand. Hard work combined with smart work can yield fruitful results. To work smart, we need knowledge about the work, which comes only with hard work, perseverance and experience.
  • Avoid social media: Social media can get very distracting sometimes and can cause you to procrastinate and lead to less productivity. One minute you’re just texting your friend, the next thing you know, you’ve already wasted an hour aimlessly browsing your newsfeed! Muting your phone or social media notifications when you’re working helps keep distractions at bay. If you’re managing your company’s social channels, logout of your personal accounts so you don’t feel tempted to take a peek at your newsfeed.
  • Keep your meetings short: Before you decide to ring up your team for a meeting, consider if the agenda can be sent or discussed via email. If not, keep meetings as brief and concise as possible. People will be more alert and the meeting will be more straightforward if you choose to stand rather than sit in the meeting. Research has found that people who attend meetings while remaining standing are more engaged than those who do not. You could also hold the meetings in the mornings when your staff is sharp and at the peak of their productivity.
  • Get a virtual receptionist: Answering calls and dealing with customers over the phone can take up a large chunk of your day. You could automate this task through a virtual receptionist eaily. This can not only save you tons of time, but can also make a small business seem more impressive to clients. Using a virtual receptionist can also help boost your efficiency. This could also allow the existing employees perform other work effectively without havind to answer the phone every now and then. Virtual receptionists are more affordable and can save you some money.
  • Stock the pantry with healthy snacks: What employees eat can affect their productivity. Berries, green tea, dark chocolate, nuts, raw carrots, avocados, bananas etc. are some superfoods that help to boost productivity.
  • Stop multitasking: Although it feels like multitasking helps accomplish multiple tasks faster, it isn't actually so. Multitasking can lead you to cause many mistakes and errors and may cause you to increase the time taken to accomplish tasks.
  • Divide your day into productive blocks: It can sometimes be extremely overwhelming when your work is piling up in front of you and you're trying your best to complete everything but you're having a hard time completing the set tasks in the time you had scheduled them to be completed. You could try and focus on one task at a time  and make a to-do list and try to finish that tasks in less time.
