Having a look at favoritism and how it is affecting people..??

Favoritism

"Favoritism manifests itself in all departments of government, public and private. It is harder to avoid, because it is so natural.."

                    -Thomas Chandler Haliburton

Just like nepotism, Favoritism is also another growing threat. If you think that it is only present in government or publical bodies, then you are wrong. According to Mark Payleither"Favoritism is human nature", you may believe it or not but this is the fact. So you can easily conclude what I am trying to say. The problem of favoritism starts from our house itself.

Okay! So now you might be thinking that how it is different from nepotism? Well, nepotism is like promoting a particular family member or a friend due the relations. But favoritism is like whether relation is present or not between the two, but still someone is giving the chances again and again to the same person because of his/her personal attraction or attachment towards that particular person.

Now if you are thinking that how favoritism is wrong? Then let me tell you, according to a research, every year about 28,672 out of 100,000 people commit suicide because of family problems. And from these 28,672 people, around 5,000 are youth, and from these 5,000 about 2500 die because of the comparison. Comparison with whom? The comparison done by parents between their favorite child who is the topper and the second child who is average or below than average. What was the reason behind this? Favoritism between their own children.

I have observed this favoritism thing in my own family, between my own cousins. Favoritism is the factor which leads to arose comparison and then comparison leads to arose other things. This is not only happening in families but also in many organizations and institutions, whether it's a school or college or a workplace. Although, in some places it is less or in some places it is more. But I have observed that it is present everywhere. It might be possible that it's face and name is different at each place.

In a company, from 150 employees, only 10 employees are in the list of promotion everytime. Why? Because those employees are boss favorite and his attachment with them is more, comparing with other employees. May be those 10 employees were very attentive towards their responsibility, but this year one of the employee didn't performed well. Yet he got the promotion because he was boss's favorite. Again favoritism. And from those 140 employees, one employee worked hard to improve himself but yet he didn't got any appreciation.

Because of this favoritism thing, hard work is constantly being avoided at every place. It's good to support a person who is hard working. But promoting someone just because you like him/her and he is your favorite is completely not fair at all.
