Health And Hospitality Update- Description about Emotional Health

Emotional health is about managing and handling our emotions. Emotional health includes both emotional regulation and emotional intelligence.

According to Peter Salovey and John Mayer, Emotional Intelligence is defined as the ability to control others as well as our own emotions. There are five components of Emotional Intelligence and they are:-

  1. Empathy
  2. Self-regulation
  3. Self-awareness
  4. Internal Motivation
  5. Social Skills

Empathy is the ability to sense the emotions of other’s people and imagining what someone else might be thinking and feeling.

Self-regulation is the ability to monitor our own energy states, thoughts and behaviour that can be acceptable.

Self-awareness is the experience of one’s own personality. It is about how consciously an individual knows and understands about his/her own feelings, character, desires and motives.

Social Skills means handling and influencing someone’s emotions effectively.

There are many ways to improve a good emotional health:-

  1. Be aware of your emotions
  2. Connect with people
  3. Manage Stress
  4. Express your feelings in appropriate ways.
