Kings XI Punjab’s latest Captain KL Rahul took the stage as the leader of the side for the first time, in IPL 2020, as he joined Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer ahead of the toss. KL Rahul, thus, became the 12th standing captain of the Punjab side and KXIP became the IPL franchise with most number of captains till date in 13 editions of the marquee T20 league. Before Rahul, 11 other player have led the Kings XI Punjab side - Adam Gilchrist, George Bailey, Yuvraj Singh, Mahela Jayawardene, Virender Sehwag, Glenn Maxwell, Kumar Sangakkara, David Hussey, Murali Vijay, David Miller, Ravichandran Ashwin.KXIP, one of the five teams who have been part of every IPL season since 2008, had Yuvraj Singh as their first captain. Under him, KXIP had finished as the second spot in the points table in 2008. Yuvraj finished his captaincy career with 17 wins in 29 matches.Adam Gilchrist holds the record of leading KXIP in most matches (34). KXIP were captained by R Ashwin in IPL 2018 and 2019. They failed to qualify for Playoffs in both the seasons. The team management will hope that they end their title drought under Rahul's leadership.
