India is well known for its ancient tradition “Atithi Devo Bhavah” or “Guest Is God” and hosting the foreigners from ages.
In India the hospitality industry is broadly categorised into :-
- Lodging
- Transportations
- Food and Beverages
- Travel And Tourism
From a past survey of Hospitality Industry (including tourism companies and hotels), the total no. of responses obtained was 34 and then there responses were classified into four sub-categories like:-
- Type Of Company
- Ownership
- Total Number Of Employees
- ISO or any Quality Certification
COMPANY OWNERSHIP:- Out of 34 companies, 27 were privately owned companies while 7 were government owned companies.
QUALITY CERTIFICATION:- All the Hospitality Industry must be ISO 9000 Certified or any certified from any quality certification Company. About 97.1% of the Hospitality Industry are certified.
ISO 9000 is the set of International standards on quality assurance and quality management help to develop the companies effectively and document the quality system elements.
The Hospitality Industry forms one of the most important segments in the Indian Service Sector with high potential for foreign exchange earnings and employment generation.
