The internet is a constant fixture in human lives. People who have access to the internet enjoy loads of benefits over the ones who don’t have access. In the present world, it has become a vital necessity to be able to operate devices and use the internet.

DOES INTERNET NEED CENSORSHIP?

  • There is information about everything available easily online. More often than not, the ads and pop-ups appear to be a touch graphic in content. Sometimes, information about a specific topic is searched while you encounter certain graphic content without even searching. For example, a girl was checking out ‘social control’ for her sociology project and few links led her to some pornographic content.
  • This happens way too often. Some websites give misleading headings to collect traffic. The internet needs to be censored since it's not hard for an innocent person to encounter harsh, questionable, shocking, or graphic content on websites. Some websites coerce people into consuming pornographic content which should be banned.

REASONS FOR CENSORSHIP OF INTERNET

  • Censoring sexual, violent or traumatic content which is harmful to everyone involved are often crucial.
  • By censoring the info, our private and confidential data can remain safe. Harmful sites are going to be blocked which might ensure the safety of sensitive data.
  • Children get lazy because of excessive use of the web. With censorship, the info would be limited and restricted. They won’t be able to download malicious software or access harmful websites.
  • Some websites are violent in nature which makes people traumatised. For example, a particular section of the web called red area contains websites that have live stream murders, rape etc. They can make people traumatised or aggressive. Censorship of internet would disable such websites for access.
  • By censoring the web, there'll be less abuse by anonymous people. Presently, people abuse one another anonymously for easy pleasure sake.
  • Internet censorship does not hinder any freedom. It only maps the virtual world with real-life ethics.
