Karnataka is the largest state of south India, eighth most largest state by population, and sixth largest state by area, in India.  Karnataka hosts many attractive and beautiful places and because of that it is the fourth most favorite destination among the states of india, as per the tourists visiting from another country or state. This state is the home of many beaches and huge number of ancient sculptured temples. It is one of those states where the highest number of monuments are protected. 

 

So here are few of those places which are most visited and loved by the tourists.

Shivanasamudra Falls

 

Shivanasamudra falls is situated on the river Kaveri, in the Mandya district of Karnataka, that is 120 kilometers from the capital city, Bangalore. It is one of the oldest hydroelectric power station, established in the year 1902. Reported as one of the most beautiful waterfalls, surrounded by high hills and green valleys. The perfect time to visit here, is during the monsoon or winter season, as it looks perfect during the months from July to December. 

 

Gokarna

Gokarna is a small town in Kumta taluk of Uttar Kannada district, in the state Karnataka. It is one of the most liked place by the travelers. Basically, it is known for The Mahabaleshwar Temple, that is located here. As per the Vedas, the Jyotirlinga here is the original image of Lord Shiva, that is also known as Atmalinga. This town is one of the Hindu pilgrimage place, due to a number of temples situated here. This Mahabaleshwar temple is very important in the Hindu religion and it is also mentioned in the Shiva Purana. 

 

Nandi Hills

 

Nandi Hills is also known as Nandi Durg, built by the Ganga Dynasty and later was strengthen by Tipu Sultan. It is 60 kilometers away from Bangalore, rich in bird life, making it the perfect place for the bird watchers and bird capturing photographers. The beauty of this place, can't be described in words, just visit and see it by yourself. 

 

Murdeshwara

 

It is another town located in the state Karnataka. This place is also very prominent for the Hindus, due to the presence of Murdeshwara Temple. The jyotirlinga placed here, is said to be a piece of the original image of Lord Shiva's Jyotirlinga. Here the height of the statue of lord Shiva is 123 feet, making it the second tallest statue of Shiva in the country. Beside this a huge Gopura of 20 storeys is situated, surrounded by water of the sea from three sides. 

 

Abbey Falls

 

Abbey falls or Abbe Falls or Abbi Falls, are located in Kodagu region of Karnataka, 268 kilometers always from Bangalore and 122 kilometers from Mysore. Earlier was known as Jessi Falls, after the death of a British officer's wife. As you can see in the picture, it is also another beautiful place in Karnataka, that drew the attention of a large number of crowd. 

 

So these were few places that a number of tourists liked and I personally love these places.
