Many ways Dragonflight WoTLK Gold appears to be a retro-style expansion. This isn't a bad thing. Gone are flashy, exciting new features, such as Covenants, Soulbinds, Azerite Armor, Artifact Weapons, Class Halls garrisons, Warfronts Island Expeditions in addition to others. Instead, Dragonflight's collection of core features is actually quite short, with a majority of them focusing on the fundamentals of the game's core experience: class progression in the form of new talent trees, updated professions, and a needed user interface upgrade. Character development has always been the core of what WoW is all about and Dragonflight presents a refreshingly straightforward way to approach it. Your class is yours and all of the potential in the class is available for you to experiment with. Each class has all-new talent trees inspired by the game's pre-Mists-of-Pandaria days, there aren't any other bells or whistles that come with it. You select your talents. You acquire new skills. You experiment. You discover a design you like. You play. Simple as that.
It's a bit basic yet it's actually refreshing to be able to breathe fresh air. Since several expansions, classes have been shackled to various progression systems which ultimately, at the end the day, only served to make them less fun to play. It is possible to change the structure of the class and test the two tree of talents with each specialization (one for the class as a whole as well as one for that particular specialization) and not having to worry about crafting the next Legendary product, picking the appropriate Covenant or finding an improved Azerite power, is a welcome game-changer.
This allows players to concentrate more on finding the fun of their WOW WoTLK Classic Gold classes and figuring out their style of play, instead of searching for advancement-related resources that only serve to waste time. I wasn't given the opportunity to put every class's newly discovered talents through the ringer (there are only few classes with their new abilities in the game I played), so I can't determine how each class experiences with new talents or what their class balance will be similar to. However, what's clear from my experience playing Dragonflight is the new talent trees are a massive leap forward, even though they're inspired by the systems from the game's earliest days.
