The latest release of Netflix, 'Kissing game'' aka 'Boca a Boca' which translates to mouth-to-mouth is a Brazilian original series, released on 17th July 2020. It has a single-season till date comprising of 6 episodes. The cast comprises of Michael Joelsas, Caio Horowicz, Thomas Aquino, Denise Fraga, Luana Nastas, Iza Moreira, Grace Passô and Bianca Byington.
'Boca a Boca' or 'Kissing game' revolves around the theme of a pandemic in the cattle-ranching town, Progresso, and the cause was predicted as kissing. The virus makes its hosts apparent, turning their lips black and making their nerves around the lips visible and glow in the dark gradually making the host apathetic. All episodes are of 45 minutes but the first episode is a bit shorter in duration than the other ones. Episode 2 onwards, the series starts to pick up the pace and we have an idea as to what we are dealing with. The opening episode shows a night party going on amid the village side of the town aka the 'cult', full of teens dancing, kissing, and doing drugs and simultaneously also the present. The panic spreads out when the day after, a teen is found with black lips and prominent nerves. A group of concerned even make an online contact map, tracing who has kissed whom, and who could be carrying the illness. Unfortunately, these kids just won't stop kissing. Also, there are multiple storylines of different families and their own internal struggles along with the common struggle of the virus.
The series may gross you out at the beginning but the plot gets better and better with the opening boxes of revelations and questions. There is drama, humor, and thrilling elements in plenty so it really makes for a fun and entertaining watch. There are too many licentious elements in the show which were not necessary and to an extent were out of the place, considering that the series is talking about school children here. Boca a Boca has a fairly new storyline and you just might like it for the refreshing change it brings. The series also revolves around a lesson about humanity's tragic inability to stop ourselves from committing harmful, impulsive acts. Whether adults and experts are able to solve the mysteries or will teens come up with an initiative or just fool around? The plot appeals the viewers with its suffuse of drama, light humor, and of course, uncountable thrill. Well well well, the Kissing game is a click away.
