Mogadishu (Reuters) - Guns and rockets exploded on Friday in Mogadishu as Somali government forces clashed with angry opposition supporters over a suspension of elections, which could have divided troops and ethnic groups and fueled Al Qaeda-linked violence.
A video sent to Reuters from an anti-government protest showed civilians in masks - accompanied by two friendly soldiers wearing red hats wrapped in bombshells - hoisting Somali flags before the shooting began. Nearby Reuters reporters heard gunshots and loud explosions.
