The Taj Mahal is a white tomb built in the 16th century by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The building is in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Widely thought as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, it is one of India's biggest tourist

The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. He built it in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is wonderful and world famous monument . It is said that they began the construction in 1630 and  it took twenty two years to be built , and twenty thousand workers were employed to build it . This monument is on the list of the Seven Wonders of the World . No wonder people swarm in flies all year round to witness the magnificence of his beauty. This monument is located in India in the city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

In 16th and 17th centuries Mugal Empire ruled most of India and Pakistan . It consolidated Islam in South Asia, and spread Muslim (and particularly Persian) arts and culture as well as the faith .The Mughals were Muslims who ruled a country with a large  Hindu majority .However for much of their empire they allowed Hindus to reach senior government or military positions.     

Taj Mahal was declared as Heritage Site by UNSECO in 1983 .  The Taj Mahal is a marvel of Mughal architecture at he crossroads of Islamic , Persian and Indian styles. The interior is composed of 3 distinct parts . The first part is the entrance of the site of Taj Mahal which is to the south , the inner courtyard . Named “jilaukhana” ,it has 3 gates , allowing entry and exit to the tourist . The second part is the gardens of the Taj Mahal . This is where the Taj Mahal reflected in the 4 famous water bodies . The garden is called “Chahar bagh”. The third part of Taj Mahal is complex which is to the north , it is a large terrace called “Chameli Farsh” which contains in the center the mausole itself .

In conclusion, every Indian takes pride in the beauty of the Taj Mahal and its heritage. This monument is famous all over the world. Around 2 to 4 million people come to visit the Taj Mahal every year. The beauty and history of the monument attract people the most and makes it famous all over the world.
