MAKE IN INDIA: REALITY OR MYTH?
India is a country with huge potential and can become most dynamic and fastest developing economy of the world. The Indian economy is ranking fifth largest in the world by nominal GDP and the third largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). According to the IMF, on a per capita income basis, India ranked 142nd by GDP (nominal) and 119th by GDP (PPP) per capita income in 2018. Make in India is an initiative coined by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on September, 2014. Under this campaign 25 industrial sectors have been identified.
It is an international marketing strategy and slogan to attract business and investment across the globe to transform India into a manufacturing hub as a service sector cannot be a sole driver of the economy. The progress, growth and development are vital and important aspects of the economy of any country. The objects of this campaign are to increase the share of manufacturing sector in gross domestic product, employment generation and to make India a self reliant and self sufficient country, boosting economy with global recognisation. This initiative of Indian Government mainly aims to utilize rapidly increasing work force into productive use. Many schemes and programmes like Jan Dhan Yojna, Health Schemes, Housing Schemes, good infrastructures etc have been started by the Indian Government to supplement the Make in India initiative.
