New National Policy of Education, According to which breakfast must also be given along with Mid Day Meals in Government School.

Breakfast is known to be the most Important meal of the day and for good reason that it boosts the energy level, alertness and activeness. Even Research shows us that skipping breakfast does not get compensated by eating more for later half of the day. Thereafter, Nutrition of the happy giggling students in government school is of major concern. So, this initiative from the government is well appreciated step.

This would help the students to cope with their studies and activities during the prolong hours of classes. In places where hot meals could not be served instead nutritious meal such as groundnuts or channa mixed with jaggery and fruit would be given. Some states and union terrritories will also provide additional items such as milk, egg and fruit. This is certainly a kind gesture towards daily wage workers as morning can be very hectic to balance work and kids for them and many cases might not be affordable as well. So getting their kids to eat something before school is certainly a challenge. This effort will also increase the student strength in government schools.

This initiative was already taken earlier in 12 Tiruchy Government school where the teachers would give a part of their savings to give fresh cooked nutritious breakfast to the students.  Teachers earlier would complain of students fainting during school assembly and paying less attention in classes. There will also be Health Check Ups to monitor the growth rate. This was earlier available only for Anganwadi but this time they have included Primary schools as well. Even during Lockdown food security allowance have been given to students till schools are closed.

Lets all hope that these students get the essential fibres and proteins which will keep them energised till lunch and improve their cognitive overall performance in the future to come.
