Ambedkar inspired the Dalit Dalit Buddhist Movement and fought against social discrimination.
As the chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee Ambedkar was rewarded with the title of the father of the Indian Constitution.

- Not known to many, BR Ambedkar’s original surname was Ambavadekar. Its after the name of his village Ambavade. His guru Mahadev Ambedkar gave him his own name
- Ambedkar was the first Indian to pursue a doctorate in economic from abroad.
- The Problem of the Rupee – Its Origin and Its Solution mentions that Hilton Young Commission conceptualised Reserve Bank of India based on the guidelines presented by him.
- He launched the Mahad Satyagragh in 1927 because dalits were treated as untouchables. He encouraged Dalits to drink water from Chavdar lake in Mahad when they were denied to use public water
- He pushed very hard for the hindu code bill. When it could not pass he included it into his his papers as the law minister.
- Ambedkar formed the Scheduled Caste Federation party in 1952. He lost to congress.
- Ambedkar brought changes in working hours of labour from 12 to 8 hours in 1942.
- Initiated a number of projects: the Bhakra Nangal Dam project, the Damodar Valley project, the Son River Valley project and Hirakud dam project.
- His book, Waiting for a Visa is used as a textbook in the Columbian University.
- He suggested the division of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh in Thoughts on Linguistic States.
