The saying health is wealth, is not framed just for the sake of it. To elaborate further, one can have a meal with some wealth in hand, but without health, wealth is of no use. Hence, staying fit, maintaining an all-weather body and leading healthy lifestyle is of utmost important for all.

The best way one can stay healthy is by practising healthy habits like maintaining a steady timetable for sleep, eating, study, work-outs, check-ups, apart from staying fit physically, mentally, and socially like pollution free environment, drinking potable water.

Many countries have health insurance as part of the social security for its citizens, by which all citizens can avail the medical benefits through such insurance thus secure them and their families. These countries, invest lot of research to find new medicines, like the vaccines for the present COVID-19 virus, in less than a year many countries have already in the final stages of developing the much needed vaccine for human existence, these countries were able to develop is because there has been a steady and pre-laid policies of every successive government to ensure research in the medical field is not hampered at any cost.

Though, India is a land of contributions to the world in the field of health, like Ayurvedic medicines, Yoga for fitness, yet it is far behind in providing quality healthcare for its citizens. There has been a huge economic divide in our country, the wealth of India is in very few-hands and the vast majority are in middle class of below poverty line. The state of affair is such that having 3 meals a day is itself an achievement leave along providing health care.

Huge sums are spent on non-productive and hazardous activities like producing and burning of crackers, whereas even a fraction of that amount is not spent on providing health not only to the workers of the cracker industry but also to its users.

An affordable health care system in India is a distant dream for most of the population who fall in the middle income and lower income groups. The un-hygienic ways of preparing or selling food on streets and in some hotels and restaurants just adds to the already deteriorating health care.  To maintain a good health, good food is necessity which also is a distant dream for most of population which is pre-dominantly dependent on agriculture. There have been many instances where the crop fails, food habits’ also changes, leading to burden on the health care. In order to get more yield, many of our farmers use excessive chemicals also hybrid seeds which gives more yields, which is used to distribute for every growing population. These shortcuts in farming has also directly the health of our citizens.

Many nations invest in quality health care systems, produce medicines and vaccines, in order to attract the health tourism which in turn brings in revenues and creates employment opportunities and creates a sense of security for at least some of the affordable citizens, if not for all.

The WHO-World Health Organisation as part of the United Nations-UN, has been instrumental in maintaining the well being of all the nations in the world, which has the support few developed countries financially. Most of its activities are being done in Asia and Africa, which has mal-nourishments, infant mortality which are directly related to hunger and poverty. It has a long way to go in providing health care to all the member and non-member nations since hunger and poverty has not been eradicated and is deep routed in every nation’s society.

To have quality and affordable health care is the fundamental right of every citizen, providing the same should also be the responsibility of every government.
