Art Culture: Where travel blends with Art
In every part of life, art and travel go hand in hand. Everywhere in the world has a distinctive artistic appeal, and thanks to its history some destinations have a little more to do. Artists often love to travel to different places and find inspiration for interesting destinations.
Whether it is home to amazing public sculptures, famous art galleries or a vibrant street art environment, these world-wide cities are perfect for any art enthusiast. We visit some of the world's most vibrant art scenes from famous hotspots such as Paris to up-and - coming arty hubs such as Mexico City, and Lagos.
- Paris, France: Paris is the Mecca of art lovers with more than 1,000 art galleries in the area. From legendary art museums like The Louvre – house of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, and a must-do on every art fan’s bucket list – and seasoned contemporary galleries like Galerie Daniel Templon to relative newcomers like La Maison Rouge and Modus Art Gallery and the lively street art in Paris’ Belleville neighborhood, there’s art to be found on every corner in The City of Light.
- Mexico City, Mexico: São Paulo may be the art centre of Latin America, but other hubs such as Mexico City still say internationally. Since 2014, the city has organised its own Content Art Show, where contemporary galleries like House of Gaga and Kurimanzutto have flourished on the international art scene.
- Lagos, Nigeria: Nigeria's largest city, Lagos, is fiercely rated as one of the best arts destinations in Nigeria with its vibrant cultural scene. The Centre for Contemporary Art and African Artists' Foundation, both founded in 2007, call the city home, with the latter committed for the annual LagosPhoto Festival and National Art Competition.
Singapore: Singapore can be regarded as one of the world's leading financial centres, but its art scene is still very remarkable. The city's most outstanding arts are evident from the local centres, such as the Academy of modern art, the Singapore Art Museum and Singapore's newly opened National Gallery, in Singapore, which holds the world's largest exhibition of Singaporean and Southeast Asian art.
- Chicago, USA: Windy City boasts international institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Chicago Art Institute, but you do not actually need to experience fantasy art. The Loop reveals a number of public artworks including one once controversial picasso sculpture, Spanish painter Joan Miró's Chicago and the iconic Anish Kapoor Cloud Gate.
6. Melbourne, Australia: Melbourne 's art scenes must not be overlooked from major museums such as the National Gallery of Victoria, the oldest museum of public art in Australia, and the Australian Centre for Modern Art and trendy Gertrude Modern in the bohemian area of Fitsroy.
- Milan, Italy: This neighbourhood has an amazing architectural gem. Aerial bombings struck the church of the 15th century during World War II and therefore the Dominican monastery walls were demolished. Indeed, one of the walls conserves the iconic Last Supper painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. In the art gallery scene, the town is also stunning.
Conclusion: These cities are music and dance halls, museums and theatre. They are the birthplace of emblematic style and classical concertos and the most recent artistic innovation appears on each corner.
