Nepotism In Schools and Colleges

"Nepotism is lowest and least imaginative form of corruption and discrimination.."

                                     -Daniel  Alarcon

School and college, the place where all the basic and fundamental foundation of our belief took place. The particular difference between wrong and right is taught to us. But what if we starts to experience such unfair things at our schools or college itself? What we will learn from there?

Yeah! Even schools and colleges are also not untouchable from the things like nepotism, favoritism, cryonism and groupism.

Okay! So there are two students, Ansh and Dev. Ansh is extremely talented boy who always comes first in the class and is also very good in sports. But he is  from a poor family, his father is a farmer. On the other hand, Dev is an average boy, not so good in studies nor in sports. But his father is a well known business man. And because his father is rich, their teacher's treat them in a different way. Whether anything is going to be held in school, from annual function to sport's day, Dev first get the chance to perform, even he is just average. But Ansh is not getting any such special treatment. What is this? Nepotism.

Not only in schools, but also in colleges this is clearly visible. There is a clear vision that if you are professor's favorite then you are going to get the chance on every golden opportunity. Yeah! You read it right.

There are various factors responsible for the cause of nepotism in schools and colleges. Few of them are:-

1. Family background

2. Social status

3. Religion

4. Physical appearance

5. Financial status

The previous chief minister of Goa, Late Mr. Manohar Parrikar, in one of his interview has said that" Favoritism in schools and colleges is affecting the quality of education". And yes! I truly believe these words.

But I think karma hits everyone. Those teachers who are doing this favoritism thing with student, are Also suffering with the same. How? Same as of the students, like a teacher working in a school is brother-in-law of the principal. Then surely, he would get any opportunity before other teachers.

So basically, the  conclusion is that all of us are living in a society, which is like a cycle. Yeah! I mean all of us have to  face these things at a point of life.

But the school going children are not familiar with all these things. Treating them in such a way, not only leads to decrease in their marks or decresing their performance in sports, but also effecting their mental health, making them sad and depressed. Students are the future of our country, if they would experience such things in schools and colleges then how will they improve themselves..?

So at any place, whether it's a college or school, the first thing that should be the teacher's priority is to give first chance to the talented students rather than promoting nepotism and favoritism by giving chance to principal's son or trustee's daughter.
